Day to day that means OpenTelemetry instrumentation
libraries, telemetry pipelines, and the Kubernetes platforms they run on.

What I work on

OpenTelemetry: instrumentation libraries, auto-instrumentation and
Collector pipelines that application teams use to monitor their services.

Telemetry at scale: processing high volumes of trace, metric and log
data across container and non-container workloads.

Storage and analytics: ClickHouse, Prometheus, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.

Platform: Kubernetes, Docker, Istio, Kafka.

Languages: Go (my main focus now), Python, Java.

Background

I started in 2009 in middleware: WebSphere MQ and Message Broker
administration and production support at TCS, IBM and Wipro. That taught me
how production systems break, and how hard it is to see why. Since 2018 I
have worked at Visa in Singapore, moving from systems engineering to
platform engineering to observability, where I now design and build
observability platforms.
